It gives you a ranking of your internet fame, based on some sort of complicated calculation—according to the site, Preople essentially Googles you; they search your name on a couple of engines and count how many times your name is found after which there’s the calculation part to figure out your rank. This could make or break your ego, if it really worked. Your rank can go up or down depending on what you’ve been up to; you cannot opt out of Preople because people can search for your name whether you like it or not. You can improve your rank by generating buzz—start a successful blog or run for president for instance. You can also compare your rank with another person’s using the Preople Challenge (basically you enter to names and hit the compare button).
