What it does

A brand new way to search online has just been launched by the name of KallOut. Kallout allows you to search easily among many applications such as Microsoft Word, Office, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF as well as providing more simple searches within your internet browsers. All you have to do to receive your selection-based search is highlight any word or phrase within the text, hover over the KallOut targe and then choose the menu item you´re searching for. KallOut choices are filtered by the BestGuess system which matches your selection with the most relevant suggestions. All of the KallOut results are displayed in floating information palettes that make it easier for users to see everything in context without having to open up a new window or browser. Thus, you can read Wikipedia articles, watch YouTube videos and view Flickr photos any time the urge to search hits you. KallOut also offers a SearchBar to keep on your desktop in case what you´re looking for is not located inside a document you´re working on.

Why it might be a killer

Not having to open up a new browser tab to search definitely saves a lot of time and hassle when wanting more information within texts. KallOut is easy to use and offers users the ability to store their different palettes in custom docks that auto-hide themselves and are revealed by simply mousing up to the top of your screen. However, KallOut currently can only be downloaded by those who use Windows XP or Vista.
