In their own words

“The Joongel plugin saves you time by letting you search through general info (Google), blogs, reference, videos, images, Q&A, and social media, all in one”

Why it might be a killer

This essentially is the same as installing each individual plug-in to your browser’s search bar. Of course, it saves you the downloads and it’s much less clumsy. The interface is pretty slick, it’s lightweight besides, and it will save you time. Quite useful if you often search through social and general media (images, videos, blogs, reference, etc).

Some questions

Will more sites be added to the plug-in? Where does the name Joongel stem from? How will this be monetized?

What it does

The concept of Joongel is to cut the long tail of the Internet and provide guidance to the user when navigating through the clutter of websites. Until the public launch you can use the Joongel plug-in for both IE and Firefox whose goal is to make searching, especially social searching much, much easier. With it, you’ll be able to search the most popular sites—think Flickr, Yahoo, Youtube, Digg, etc—simultaneously. Results, however are displayed within each site separately, meaning you’ll have to visit each site to view the results. Currently there are two basic Joongel search modes, the first for social media sites, think Delicious and Reddit, the other for standard reference with Wikipedia and Yahoo Answers. If you’re still wary about installing another plug-in, give it a try in your browser with the preview version.
